The Attlerock is the only natural satellite of Timber Hearth. It is almost entirely barren, the terrain mostly level except where it is pocked with deep craters. There are a few large craters with pieces of information in them, and the first Eye Signal Locator you will find in the game, along with being the first mention of the Eye of the Universe in Nomai texts.

Locations

Lunar Outpost

The Lunar Outpost is where Esker lives, it used to serve as a pit-stop for Hearthians making their first space flight, back when there were much more crashes. Within the outpost you will find Esker themself, their wooden lodge, a campfire where you can roast marshmallows, and trees to refill your oxygen supply.

Esker offers a few conversations, and admits to sometimes shooting little scouts at the village to feel less lonely. Within the outpost you'll also find 3 wooden platforms, the last of which contains Esker's notes on the various spacefaring Hearthian's instruments, this will help point you towards Riebeck, and Feldspar.

Lunar Lookout

The Lunar Lookout is located at the Attlerock's north pole, not far from the Lunar Lookout. It consists of a set of platforms set in the north pole crater, the last of which has a lamp and a notepad. This is where Esker used their signalscope to monitor the solar system, track the other travelers, and even spy on conversations down on Timber Hearth.

Eye Signal Locator

The Attlerock is home to the first, and most simple Eye Signal Locator, the Nomai attempted to use the Attlerock to pinpoint the location of the Eye of the Universe.. The locator has 4 different settings, you can ask it to locate the Sun, Giant's Deep, Brittle Hollow, or the Eye of the Universe, it will align with the Sun, Giant's Deep, and Brittle Hollow respectively and allow you to listen to their respective signals, but if you try to locate the Eye of the Universe, it will rotate randomly and never settle on a location.

On the lower level you will find some Nomai writing directing you to the next of the Eye Signal Locators, at the Southern Observatory on Brittle Hollow.

Large Impact Crater

There is a large impact crater on the dark side of the Attlerock, it has large shards of what appear to be ice, and there is a lantern and some Hearthian tools, along with a recording from Chert next to one of the shards. The recording states Chert's hypothesis that a piece of the planet that used to be dark bramble was sent hurtling off, and crashed into the Attlerock, and left these chunks of ice.

Trivia

  • It is possible, if you're careful, to use only your spacesuit to fly to the moon from Timber Hearth, then fly back to the surface of Timber Hearth. You may take a bit of damage on hitting the ground, but if you're careful it's not enough to kill you.
  • There is a hidden achievement on the Xbox One and Steam versions of Outer Wilds that you can unlock by launching Mica's model rocket, and successfully landing it on the Attlerock.
