'''The Sun''' appears to be a main sequence star in the start of the game, but progresses through a star's standard lifespan during the 20-minute course of the game. It is 4km in diameter. The Sun appears to be at the end of its life, and is unstable, with accelerated fusion detected in the core. Presumably, this is due to alien interference, as the [[Observatory]] states that the Sun is naturally expected to go [[supernova]] in less than 2 million years. However, it is not sure what aliens, or why they seem to have accelerated the Sun's natural nuclear fusion processes. This may be revealed later.

The Sun appears to be a main sequence star in the start of the game, but progresses through a star's standard lifespan during the 20-minute course of the game. It is 4km in diameter. The Sun appears to be at the end of its life, and is unstable, with accelerated fusion detected in the core. Presumably, this is due to alien interference, as the Observatory states that the Sun is naturally expected to go supernova in less than 2 million years. However, it is not sure what aliens, or why they seem to have accelerated the Sun's natural nuclear fusion processes. This may be revealed later.

During the course of the game, the sun turns redder and redder. Twenty minutes after the game starts, the Sun turns into a rapidly-expanding supernova. In the last minute of the game, music plays, to signify the approaching catastrophe.

Sunstages

The various stages of the Sun's lifespan, according to the Observatory.

Observatory Info

In the Observatory, it says that the Sun is expected to go supernova in 2 million years, but it goes supernova much quicker in the game. The sequence of the sun's lifespan in the Observatory is somewhat consistent with what is seen in-game over the 20 minutes, but the sun does not swell in size as much.
