The Sun is the main sequence star of the Solar System. The sun has reached the end of its natural lifespan by the time your Hearthian's time loop starts, and within the 22 minute time loop, the sun approaches supernova, in the 22nd minute of the game, the sun explodes, and the loop restarts.
The Sun is in Red Giant stage according to the Sun Station, and in the final minutes of the loop, music plays to indicate the impending of the current cycle.
Locations
The Sun Station orbits the sun quickly and is ill-advised to land on it. Although the Xbox One version of the game does have an achievement called "Hotshot" that requires you to manually land on the Sun Station. This can be done either with careful precision and patience, or repeatedly launching yourself full speed at the sun and hoping.

Notes & Trivia
- There is an achievement on the Xbox One version of Outer Wilds called "Mica's Wrath" , to unlock this achievement you must destroy the model rocket by flying it into either the Sun, or Hollow's Lantern
